Message Basically you have a forum with 1,000+ lurkers and around 100 active posters. I meet people ALL the time from the forum and almost all of them say they are lurkers but they are afraid to post for fear of being yelled at or chastized. I guess I can understand that when you pick any day of the week here and there's at least a half dozen slams on people. Of course, a lot of those are semi-justified because the people either don't read the FAQ, don't listen to the rules of the site, etc.

What I'm getting at is the fact that most computer savvy people understand the basic "netiquette". For example: Don't post in all caps, read the FAQ, use Search, emoticon usage/understanding, etc. The people that don't understand these things are usually not in the computer field and are less likely to post. When and if they do, they feel insulted when people tell them what to do and they sometimes don't return. They don't realize there's a "code" of behavior on most internet forums and people are trying to educate them (some more harshly than others...hint hint).

As such, those "in the know" will post more and those on the outside look in and worry that if they post, they'll be targets.

Just a thought.
